Does anyone know if the inner and outer tail light lenses can be swapped over?
I've just bought my first vette, Now I just have to wait 2-3 months for it to get here . My problem is that over here the car must have amber rear indicators. What I was thinking about doing is swapping the lenses and changing the wiring to make the reverse light into the indicator(amber bulb), and having the stop/tail light work on the inner tail light.
Would appreciate any info or suggestions.
I had the same problem on the Isle of Man. Paint the back-up clear portion of the inside lneses amber and wire them as your indicators. Then disconnect the old indicator wires.
I need to do the same thing on my 73BB for registration in Vic, any suggestions on what to do with the wiring loom to separate the indicators from the stop lights. Or is it simpler to run a new circuit for the indicators and just remove the old indicator wires from the stop lights?
My car won't be here for a couple of months, so I'm not sure how I'm going to change the wiring yet. It will depend on where, and how the wires connect. If you're not familiar with wiring, get a sparky to have a look.
Hi Doug. I have not long finished changing mine to get a roadworthy. There is another forum member from Aus who is very switched on. He has done a few of these and he emailed me a schematic on the easiest way to do this job. I followed it and it works great.
PM me if you want me to send you the schematic. Rgds Mark
Are you going for full registration or Special Interest. My '72 BB is registered for Special Interest in Tassie (52 days a year). Cars 30 years and older with the SI registration can have all the original tail light lenses. It is also staying LH drive.
Chris, I'm leaving it LHD. I would like full rego, even if it means making changes. When the car eventually gets here, it's going to be hard to get my butt out of it.
