Default the # game...

while disassembling my 69 I copied the engine #s and looked them up in Richard Prince's Corvette restoration guide, what I found was a little confusing...can someone explain this to me??

the engine is supposed to be a 350\300.
the #s are 3970010...which states its a late 350
the intake manifold # is 346250...I couldn't find it...
the exhaust manifold # left: 384559...1970- early 350/300-350/350
Right: 3932461...1973-74- 350...
If the #s were correct, wouldn't they all be within the 68-69 era?

the tranny was rebuilt and its a m-22.

All parts would coincide with the date stamp on original block, like mine is Feb69, so most parts are Jan/Feb dated.

I highly doubt it is a M22. In a 300 HP car why would you have the M22. Most likely it is a M20 wide ratio.

Sounds like you've got a pretty big assortment of non-original parts in there.

Post the numbers off the pad at the front of the right head. The engine stamp will identify the engine you have and it's original application. You should also find a VIN derivative stamp on the pad which will identify the vehicle the engine was originally installed in.

It is probably a repaced block. What is stamped on the right front of the block on the pad at the head.

What's on the stamp pad at the front right side of the cylinder block? This will give a much better clue of what the engine is.

The intake manifold is from a '76 and up non-EGR installation, possibly a truck.

The other numbers are all possible for a late '69 Corvette.

Ditto on the comments about the trans, not likely to be an M22.

The 3970010 is not the date stamp and was used in verious applications. On the opposite side of the block is the date stamp and like everyone said list the # on the front pad..

V0619HY is a 300 hp 350 cu in with Qjet and manual transmission (base engine) built in the Flint engine plant on June 19th. Nothing unusual there

The VIN derivative stamp is exactly what would be expected.

Again, nothing (except the intake manifold) is unusual for a late '69.

Did'nt I see something about the "010" block being a higher nickel content than some of the other blocks? Maybe a better than "normal" block there.

P0P23A
P=Muncie 4 speed
0=1970
P=September
23=september 23rd
A=M20

the other numbers appear to be the VIN of the donor car.

Should be a VIN derivative stamped into the tranny, too.
right side, front, stamped vertically ...
See pg 63 of the Prince book.
