Lookin good …. Nice crossover …. Except for the muffler which I expected to come as shiny as the tips

Did it come with any clamps? If yes, are they Stainless Steel? They also need to be modified to have them hooked up to the header, right ?

Can’t wait to hear your 396 rumbling through them

You can get the mufflers polished, as an option & yes the system came with SS clamps. You do have to fab the connector from your reducers to the front of the Pypes system, for headers. If you want to use stock exhaust they can provide a down pipe that will connect up the manifolds.

As far as hearing the 396 through them, well it will be a lot more quite than now! I'm breaking the engine on a test stand, open header. The neighbors love it!

we instaled the pypes system with the quieter mufflers on a 71 cutlass at our shop.It has a nice sound to it. Then one of my employees bought the system for his barracuda. He got the loud mufflers. They are very, very loud!!!!! Good sound,(somewhat tin can-ish) but very loud.

Sorry for the ignorance but what are the advantages of an X-flow system over a standard duel?

X-pipes allow mixing of the exhaust gases to 'balance' the exhaust pulses from left to right. It smooths out the sound.

what is the double hump crossmember? I was looking at these for my 78 with the Race Pro mufflers. I did the online chat with the salesperson and they really couldnt tell me what it was. I have assumed that it is the crossmember on the tranny with the two circular openings that you could feed the dual exhaust thru?

I bought the system at Carlisle in Aug, minus the mufflers. I had already purchased polished Dynomax ultra fllos.

seems like a quality made system at a fraction of the cost of a custom stainless steel system. Haven't installed it yet, probably won't until the spring at this point.

I ordered my Pypes yesterday with the Racepro muffs. They immediately went on backorder. Car is up on stands, headers are on, just waiting for them to get here. Will let you know how it works as soon as I can get them here.

Also, according to their website, they are still looking for some donor cars to install the system on. Some C4 owner may want to check into it, they didnt have the C3 on their site, guess somebody already got it.

Anybody know what the best heat shield is to use to protect the spring? or just use wrap?

I'm wrapping mine w/Cool-It header wrap. VB&P says over 3" clearance nothing is needed. Don't think I'll have that, thus the header wrap.

Same here. It has a link for a crossmember website that doesn't work.

I just ordered the dual exhaust hanger from Corvette Central and will attach it to my tranny crossmember. Should keep it from banging against the sidewalls of the crossmember.
