Default A few sidepipe questions please help

First off can anyone with a 76 vette with sidepipes post some pictures. Also is the ceramic coating on the hookers a nce finish, and since they only make the pippe in chrom stainless of black would metallic ceramic with either chroe or stainless match up ok or would the finishes be off to much to look good. or would it be worthe the extra 500 to get stainless to match it up right thanks.

Chrome is nice to look at, but has problems with rust, I'd look really hard at Jet-Hot coating. I just got a set and they look great! I've got black on the car now, with THermo-Tec wrap on the primaries. Mine's a '69 and pics are up under My pictures.

What are you trying to match up to ? Headers to side pipes?

BTW, stainless used for exhaust isn't completely stainless....it turns a yellow brown colour when the heat hits it....

I don't know about the stainless Hooker product but there were a few forum members that posted that they liked them and had a small amount of discoloration near the engine only.

My Heat shields hold up very well to the heat on the side pipe section. The steelshields on my Corvette have been on for over a year and still look new and I have never polished them.

Maybe some members that have the stainless Hookers will add there comments. BTW, in the past some that have had the jet hot Hookers complained of there being rust in some areas after sometime on there vette. So maybe there is no perfect metal for exhaust pipes.

ya im trying to match p headers and pipes because the metalic ceramic headers are much cheaper than chrome or stainles, but from what i saw hooker only offers the pipes in chrome or stainless so im wondering if the finish difference between the collector and the pipes feeding in will be an eye sore, and also any pics of 75 76 77 with pipes would be appreciated because im still debating betwwen side pipes or just new headers and plain exhast
thanks

This is our '76 with side pipes which we were told were installed in USA before it was imported to New Zealand in 1997. They are not connected to headers but are direct connected to the rams horn cast iron manifolds. They appear to be plated steel. The shields work very well, I have not had a burn.

Thanks, they are chrome. I havn't had any rust problems but I do keep them clean, polished, and dry when in storage. STS baffles inside that sound very nice too. I'm really happy with the whole exhaust system.

Your ride is too cool. BTW....I dig that Shovel in the garage too. I had a 75 that I sold to finance my vette.
