In the wiper trough, there are two access holes going into the engine compartment just behind the hood latch locations. They may have plugs in them so just remove the plugs and using a long screw driver through the holes try to trip the latch. It may take some practice but you will get it.

71 small block convert with AC built in Jan 71. (general info that may make a difference)
I have the hole with the plug on the passenger side but there is no hole on the drivers side. Anyone else that can verify the same on their 71. I have read once before about drilling a hole on the drivers side for access so I would guess that I am not the only one with this setup. Perhaps the change to two holes came after 71.
