I am in the middle of installing a Vintage Air A/C. While I am at it also replacing the non-working OEM radio. Came across this under my passenger side dash. The blue, green, and yellow wires on the left went to my radio. I am guessing this went to my original radio and I can junk it. Just want to make sure it doesn't supply something else before I pull it. Thanks in advance...
That's the amplifier/heat sink for the radio. What's mounted in the console bezel is the tuner portion. All C3's had them up until about '78 when Chevy began standardizing radios across the line.
It goes with the radio...one is no good without the other.
Yep. That's the power amplifier for a stereo Delco radio, circa '68-74 [I think]. If you don't want it, you can probably sell it on eBay for some decent money.
That'll be worth a lot to a guy restoring an original stereo into a car that's missing the stock amp and wiring. I have seen plenty of threads where people are looking for that exact same amp.
