First of all, there are no rules against giving bad advice. Bad advice has been around as long as the forum has been around. A lot of people think they know how to address any given issue when they might not actually have a clue. What makes the forum useful is when other members who DO know how to address that issue take the time to correct the misguided post and offer properly directed advice.
Unfortunately, several members seem to be either unwilling or unable to follow some simple posting guidelines which are in a sticky post and are quoted below. Personal attacks will not be tolerated and ganging up on any CF member will not be tolerated. Temporary and permanent vacations have been given and will continue to be given if people are unable to follow such simple guidelines.
Yes, we are aware that a number of CF members have joined other forums and frankly they're welcome to do so. If they think another forum is more suitable to their posting habits, we wish them well. Nobody has ever been banned from CorvetteForum for having membership on multiple sites, or for posts they have made on other sites. If members of other forums try to coordinate "attacks" on CF or post inappropriately on CF, those actions and posts on CorvetteForum will be dealt with accordingly.
If you enter a thread and read an opinion or thought that you disagree with, you have three options available:
1) state your opinion,
2) respectfully disagree with another member's advice/input, state your's, and offer why you feel yours is correct. Documented evidence is always welcome in support.
3) leave the thread, take your thoughts with you, and send the thread creator a PM with your information.
What the forum does not condone, and what will jeopardize your posting privileges, is open hostility/name calling towards the members thoughts or opinions whose may be different than yours.
As easy as it may be to get upset or frustrated with another member, especially when two completely opposite views are presented, members must remember that arguing on the forum will not settle the differences. Rather, members are encouraged to agree to disagree with one another.
Offer your thoughts, supporting evidence, and leave it there. The member asking the question can research the presented information to determine who has offered the correct input.
Don't take an opposing opinion as a personal attack on your knowledge, but instead, accept it as another's opinion/thoughts only.
PS: This thread was reported a grand total of ONE time.
