Gotta question about the install. I'm thinking of upgrading the stereo in my 70... Will I have to modify my benzel like Runningman with his 73....Sounds like you have already mentioned some pretty good stereo units...I also want to use my Ipod with the stereo....My question is in regards to the speakers. I'm thinking of only adding 2 speakers in just the kickpanel areas. Will these Infinity Kappa A62.71 provide enough sound for my car. I can't see putting speakers in the back because when i drive me car....it also has something in the back that I need to take...Thanks for the info
Two speakers are more than enough but the catch is wattage. To get proper sound and fill you'll want to amp the speakers. Running nice speakers off of a head unit's internal amp will actually sound pretty bad at high volumes and in a car like these high volumes are how you have to listen to music.
It's a relatively simple install to do a nice head unit, amp, and a nice pair of speakers.

My 02 vette had a set of Kappa 63.7is and a subwoofer and sounded ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. The stock system had six speakers, this system had 5. (2 woofers, 2 tweeters, 1 subwoofer).
I would most certainly replicate this system in any car I own. I plan on doing a similar setup in my Z28. In fact, if I had the cash, I'd run this system in the 78, my Z06, AND my Z28.
The only case I can see for having more than 2 woofers would be in a larger car like a conversion van or a long SUV.
Durango Boy..thanks for the info...I saw that you mentioned using the Alpine MRFPF240 amp....I presume that this is plenty big for my 70, but where would one install the amp...Thanks

Actually I suggested the Cadence TXA-3004. It's a true RMS 75 x 4 and a FANTASTIC amp. PM me if you need help finding it for order. It's powering a front set of great quality coaxial speakers and a single sub. Sounds great.
Here's a pic of it installed on the rear wall of the storage area.
I tried to buy one of those face plates from Millionbuy.com and they said they didn't have it anymore. I contacted American International directly and they said they didn't stock it anymore and may not get it again. Do you have another source for it? FP 306 (A/I). I tried some of the local stereo shops here in Houston but no luck. Thanks!

Looks great, I had to make the bezel when I did mine, no one told me there was one I could buy at the time. I used some 4x10 speakers on a shelf in the back. Radio install
