Just recently heard about the one car in 1977 that was sold in Chartreuse yet I cannot find out any information about its whereabouts now? Anyone have the low down? Why was only one made, who bought it, where is it now?
I've been looking for a picture of that car for ages. One of these days I'll write the GM Media Archives and see if they know anything.
A few months ago, someone posted a picture of a paint chip mixed from the 77 Corvette Chartruse code. An archives search should find it - read the "Search!" sticky for pointers on archive searching.
didn't somebody post this question maybe a year ago???
i thought someone surmmized that it was ordered by a big wig's wife at gm, and that nobody else had ordered it in that color but her?

Can't say about the big wig's wife -- could have been Daddy's Little Girl, BUT it was a non-standard color and it would have had to have been approved by GM in Detroit. Somebody had some pull.

The Corvette Black Book does list 1977 colors as (1) Corvette Chartreuse code 41.

It was NOT a non-standard color, code 41 is on the paint list - and the mix code for it is available with all of the other 77 paint mixes. It's actually rather attractive, I'm not sure why only one was produced. Maybe the General had trouble with the paint, like the copper metallic C4s.
I'm not a big "Numbers Match" guy but I'd guess since only one of these was made, it probably has (or will have) collector value. It's very possible that this car has been repainted and is cruising around. If you have a '77, check your paint code numbers!!
