The previous owner of my car shaved the door handles and now the poppers have gone out. I was planning on installing new handles, but could not find a body shop willing to do it. Then I found a friend who does body work who was willing to help me cut in and put new handles in. Long story short, can't get the handles. (If someone wants me to elaborate I will but it doesn't help solve my problem). Anyway, I'm trying to go back up to school next week and can't find a place to install new poppers in the next two weeks for under $350. I can get a new kit for $175. How difficult would it be to install? Help is greatly appreciated.

Can't be very hard, its just a solenoid or a motor driven operator. It will have a couple wires on it and a couple mounting screws and an operating rod. Take off the door panel and take a look, see whats what.
A note, does it seem likely that both door popers would die at the same time, or more likely the control that runs them?
I've tinkered with them slightly and discovered that the motor on the driver's side is bad. The passenger side I think either has a bad connection somewhere, I don't know where, or a failing part, I don't know which one, because it has worked intermittently (?) over the past few weeks and is working less and less.
I guess it wouldn't be very difficult at all, considering I already have the setup to use as a guide. I'm just apprehensive, I suppose, having never done any wiring before.
