I know I should have taken more pics and better details but once in the midst of the work it is just hard to stop and take pics. I thank my wonderful wife for these so far. I bought this car with a partial restore in progress. interior was in bad shape, door panels faded but intact, some of the interior was saddle... some was black. Behind the seats nothing had been finished and none of the carpet was even inn the car. New carpet but still in the box... after a month of disassembly, dying interior pieces and molding, reassembly... it's almost done... I now have the column back in the car and the driver's seat goes back in tonight.... I'm praying for a sunday drive!!!
Enjoy the pics.... but please be kind... this is my first C3 and my first restoration/ rebuild. I'm very amature at this so far...
the dash was the most difficult, very tight space and I have big hands so it made it even more so a pain....But I think it has been worth it!
Thanks, I appreciate that for sure! It's been a long road but wouldn't have taken so long if I could have just worked on it straight through and not had to do other stuff like ... work and eat... jeeze! I'm very anxious to get it on the road though.... next big project to tackle is to replace the rear deck vent drain tubes... that looks like a knuckle buster for sure!
Looks GREAT!
I did notice that the door pull handles are upside down. Shouldn't see screw on the top. Nice work.

Looks sweet!
Nice detail work!
Same picture with the upside down handle. Looks like a deep scuff.
Try one of thos MAGIC ERASERS on it.
Those white mr clean sponges clean everything!
all in all it took about 7-8 cans of the dye that I got from Mid America. I think it was between 70 and 80 dollars overall. The carpet was a few years old but was still in the box and never been installed. So i just vaccuumed it up and glued it in over the insulation layers I put in. Hoping that the extra insulation will cut down the road noise and interior heat! The insulation really made a big difference in my C5 too!
Been working on the collum and door panels on my '72 also. They were really worpped and Bubba had just used trim glue to stick the on. The lock tumblers had been gutted and even some of the rods for un-locking the door were gone. My interior is the dark saddle.
Beautifully done, dude. The color combo (dyed panels and carpet) really look good together. Amazing how good those old door panels look after you've patched 'em up and shot 'em with dye, isn't it?
That's a fine job!!
I just got a 73 project car from a friend that ran out of ____(fill in the blank). Anyway, the car is painted and running but the interior is completely disassembled. It has no windshield and the rear glass is out. I'm gonna install the rear glass before I start on the interior but wanted to get opinions on whether I should have the front windshield installed before or after I install the dash pad, A pillar covers, T Top molding and chrome etc...
I know installing the dash will be easier with the windshield out.
