Well I found a 1968 Vette . Last registration date was 1976 and from what I was told that was the last time she was on the road. It's got 17,900 miles on the odometer,, which I believe to be true cause she was only on the road for 8 yrs. It's got the L36 engine 427/390HP
with aluminum oval port intake.
Body is in very good shape but I think a spot or 2 shows some repainting. Hard to see in the dark barn with just a flash lite.
The interior needs complete replacement,,unless there is a way to get rid of green mold spots..chrome shows pitting. and under carrige isn't any different looking from the photos that "VetteThunder1" has put up from his project. Funny thing is it's the same car,,This one is number 23,445 from production that yr.
The only other thing is someone changed the exhaust to a dual side from the dual rear. With those chrome covers that have pitted themselves too.
And left the rear valance with the cutouts.
Any how I see how much VetteThunder1 is putting into his ride with a new under carriage ,,,I wonder what would be a serious offering price for this car??
If it has 17K on the odometer everything should look brand new inside and out. Just dust it off and go. There should be virtually no wear on the interior, rugs, etc. Just clean it up. It may need a major clean up but it could be done.
Do a through review of this car. Sitting that long will require lots of work to get it road worthy again.
Low milage tell tail signs will be very little wear on the brake and clutch peddles. There should only be surface rust on the frame. Interior should show little wear. Go slow and post pics.

Exactly it should be in pretty good shape.
P.S.
I love it when people list low actual miles and then have this big list of things that have been done.
"40k actual miles....new tranny, new rear end, engine just rebuilt"
[QUOTE][117,000 miles would not be unusual for a daily driver driven over 8 years/QUOTE]
Could be very rusty too if it was driven through a number of north eastern winters with salt on the roads
Sounds like an interesting find and a fun project. Not sure what you mean about the undercarrige being the same as another post as I did not see it. I have done a few of these and have found that the birdcage is much more important ($$$) then the frame. Not saying the frame isn't critical or an easy fix but you can normally see what you are getting into. The birdcage takes some more detailed exploring and can be quite expensive to fix unless you can do it all yourself. And doing the cage normally means a body off where you are doing something to the frame as well. This and a re-paint can easily be $15k.
As for the miles - I recently bought a car with 35k original miles that I believe to be accurate. The issue is that I think many of those were done 1/4 mile at a time. As for the pedals - they can tell if it is a lot of miles but not if it is only a few - no one puts on old pads but they are only $5 to look brand new and easy to change. On my car the brake and gas look fine but the clutch pedal is completly worn down - to me its a sign it was raced and raced a lot.

He's right... My 75 C20 454 had almost 10k original miles when I got her back on the road again... The outside had some surface rust, but the inside looked like it just rolled of the assembly line!
