Default Headlight Door Adjustment

My headlight door is hitting the body. How do I adjust the headlight assembly?

Slightly loosen the three bolts holding each pivot bushing so you can just nudge it a bit and then retighten the bolts. Be careful, they could be rusted and you'll just turn the bolt head off. Use some PB blaster first. You will need to remove the grills to get in there. It's a PITA. Good to have a helper hold em in position while you tighten them up.

I use some plastic bondo and putty spreaders as shims around the four sides of the headlight door to hold the door in position while I tighten the bolts and collars on the pivot rods.

Check previous posted ideas. But this may also mean the headerbar reinforcement may be separating.

Hate to sound dumb but, what is the headerbar reinforcement?

It goes across the area just in front of the hood. It's what the headlight assemblies bolt to. It's riveted to the body and they can rust and the bar will pull away from the body.

I think this could be related. My headlight doors are well aligned but both my headlight bezels had a lower corner broken off. Does this indicate some misalignment of the headlight mechanism?

I'd hate to break the corners of the new ones as well.

Do they sit level & flush with the body when closed? Are you talking about the bezzles which surround the headlights, or the lid housing?

Yes, the doors sit level and flush when closed.

The thing I call bezels are the shell that surrounds the front of the headlights and is painted in body color.
