I'd recommend having a look at a GM Performance Parts catalog. Their crate engines are warrantied and many are run in at the factory.

The least expensive is part 12499529, a 350 cubic inch 290 hp all cast iron engine. It has 8.5:1 compression. I think this is the engine quoted as $1200 above, however this engine does not have an intake manifold, carburetor, HEI<, starter, balancer, water pump.

The next engine is 12496968. This engine is 350 cubic inches rated at 330 hp. Good news - it includes everything. Its ready to run out of the box. (It has the intake manifold, HEI, water pump, starter, balancer, spark plug wire, fuel pump, etc....) I believe this is ran in at the factory.

And the ZZ4. It's part number 24502609. It's 350o cubic inches rated at 355 HP. It has aluminum heads and intake manifold, an HEI ignition, water pump, balancer, etc. It has a hydraulic roller cam. It does not include the carburetor, starter, fuel pump. It is ran in at the factory.

And the HT383 part number 12499101. 383 cubic inches. Iron heads.
340 HP. Includes aluminum intake, balancer and water pump.

ZZ383 part number 12498772. 383 cubic inches, 425 hp. Aluminum fast burn heads. Does not include intake manifold, water pump, HEI, fuel pump, etc.

I think maybe a 383 is a better engine to drive.(more fun)
There are many 383 on ebay ,Is this safe to buy ?
