Default 75 Coupe Info

I just checked my VIN and engine numbers and appear to have a match:
VIN .....S409453
Engine ..S409453
There is also other numbers on the engine pad V1127CHZ

What do these numbers mean?

I am also looking for the trim tag. Read in old post should be under windshield (windshield wiper compartment) at driver side pillar. I can not find anything there resembling a trim tag. However I did find mesh wire standing vertical near the fender. Looks like it is to stop debris (leaves, etc.) from going into fender. The mesh is on both sides of the car.

Where is the trim tag and anyone ever seen the mesh wire?

So you bought the car not knowing if the numbers matched?

chstitans42 - thanks for the information. Looks like TRIM 192 561 PAINT
There also appears to be a D02 after Chevrolet on the top of the tag.
Would someone mind decoding for me?

Not everyone kneels at the altar of the matching number.

The D is not April. Gm used A for Oct. 1974 the first month 75's were built. A is not the same month every model year.
D would be Jan. 1975 2 is Jan second . Your Vette was built by hung over assembly line wokers from celebrating the New Years Day holiday. Your engine VIN and all dates line up and appear original to the car. Late Nov. engine in an early Jan. assembled car.

Time/Build date of D02 is the code for January 2, 1975. That's the day the trim tag was attached to the car. Your car would not have been completed on 1/2/75 and would have required another day, possibly a day and a half, to have been finished.

Thanks to all. The sticker on the drivers door shows 01/1975 as well. The car is currently yellow w/ black leather interior. Should I take a look at tranny and rear end to see if they are original? If so where would find the numbers? Are numbers matching vettes as big a deal as first generation camaros (sorry hope I didn't offend anyone). I see the prices that old camaros are bringing as matching numbers.

Tranny will have the VIN derivitive stamped on it; differential will not. AIM shows where the tranny is stamped.
