Advice on replacing windshield frame

I'm getting ready to replace my windshield frame on my 68 convertible. I plan on replacing the whole thing, spliced at about the top of the door hinge. I have a donor. Has anyone done this, any advice would be greatly appreciated? Thanks

Is it best to cut the top of the fenders than to remove front end?
