Took my 71 out this evening (first time driving in the dark in a long time) and noticed heater control had no light. Guess I've got to take the center console apart to see what's up. Anyone know where the power hooks up to this ...have never taken one of these apart before, i'm assuming there is a bulb dead center underneath?
Also, just installed the original radio in the car a couple of weeks ago. It may be a coincidence but the radio light was out too. Radio played fine but no lights. Maybe it's a fuse affecting both?
The bulb in the heater control can get pushed out of the control when it is put together. Their is a ground wire that could be off.
I would check the connector for the radio for power first. One is radio power and one is for the light see if you have power to both with the lights on. I think the third is the ground.
Thanks for the info. I got to the bulb for the heater control...it's there and intact, but isn't working. There were two wires connected to the light (black and gray i think). I may try replacing the bulb, it looks like an odd size bulb though; anyone know where i can get one? Also, before i spend too much time on this I'm going to try the easy stuff first like changing the fuse. Anyone know which fuse works this light?

If you have dash lights I think both the heater control and radio are on the same fuse so it is not a fuse problem. You should have a ground wire hooked to a spade conector on your heater control.
