Love driving in the rain. I'll stop under a bridge, I carry a squirt bottle of simple green. Squirt squirt the lower portions, tires, and wheel wells.
Less cleaning later.
I got caught in the Toys for Tots drive. It was raining lightly and the wipers worked. The car did get dirty. I washed it the next day. IT DIDN'T MELT... I just don't like the down pours and leaky windshield header. I'd prefer a warm, sunny and salt free day. I've got other vehicles as DD. So why mess up a good thing.
I remember one time I was cruising I-271 way down south one night with my buddy with the T-tops off when it started pouring. I didn't stop, because I know the "if you keep moving, you won't get wet" rule. Totally freaked out my buddy. Just stayed on the highway, hopped on 77, and ended up in downtown Cleveland , a good hour drive from where we originally were, just as the rain stopped, and all kinds of steam was coming up from the road, all the streetlights were on, and everything was literally illuminated from the reflection of the lights on the road. Really cool stuff. Got some killer pictures in front of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Browns stadium with the ground looking like it was on fire from all the steam. Unfortunately, it was a film camera, and I haven't figured out how to get those onto a computer yet.
Rain driving is just part of it. I can see if you've got a totally correct NCRS car, but I mean, it's really only water. Get home and dry it off.
I woulda missed out on a great story and some great pictures if I refused to get it wet.
I drove my 69 in the rain, snow, sleet, to wild parties, bars, repair jobs with a tool box on the floor, just about any place as it was my DD. Drive it that's what it was made for.

I did that when I was young and ....!!! Took a lot "I Repeat" a lot of money to get it back to where I have it now!! Not doing that again!
I don't enjoy driving in the rain. I don't enjoy cleaning my Black Stingray after I drive in the rain. I definately don't enjoy pulling the wheels off to clean the truspokes on both side after driving in the rain. I don't like the crap the rain leaves on my vert's white top after driving in the rain.
People who drive lease vettes drive in the rain. People who get caught in the rain in the vettes drive in the rain. People who treat their vettes as daily drivers drive in the rain.

Good Lord - Ya can't drive your vette when youre 6' under guys !
I wash and clean my truck / the daily car / and the vette. Everythings always clean. When I'm going somewhere where the vette will be safe - I take the vette! Rain OR Shine. No question. I'll take her out the odd day in winter too! (godda be real cold and NO slop - which is about 7 months here in Canada -LOL )
