Default C-3 price

Hey guys,I own a C-5, and am interested in buying a C-3 off my brother-in-law.The car is a 78 with mild interior wear,needs A/C work and cosmetics on the paint, has 79,000 miles on it .He says he will let me have it for $12.000 ,me thinks thats little to high ,any comments would be helpful.

...a price guide I looked at says non-1978 Pace Car or Silver Anniversary to be...

Fair=$5875

Excellent=$18,375(which to me I would say is also on the high retail side, unless this is an ultra low mileage car in "new in the wrappers" condition)

Good=$10,300

...with the mileage, wear and A/C issues I'd say he's more like $5K over what it's really worth. You can go to various sites like AutoTrader.com and UsedCorvettes.com to see more asking prices.

12k is too much according to my recent shopping experience for a similar vintage/condition car. 8 to 10.5 k would be more in line.

Default 2 much

I think thats a bit high for an 82. Esp. if it needs paint. I got a few quotes from corvette shops, just a real, proper paint job can cost 8850.00 to 10,000, depending on the condition of the fiberglass.

Thanks guys,thats what I was thinking, more around 7 or 8K amybe.The car runs well and has a few leaks from the tops but it is almost 30years old.I still would like to find an 80-82 car in good shape I think that is one of the best looking vettes made.

He will "let" you have it for $12k?

Well, Gee, I'll let you have my '58 for $100k. Or better yet, I'll let you have the '69 for only $50k.

To be fair.... It's not "tacky" to ask for more than a car is really worth-- it's just not very smart to PAY more than what the car is worth.

If you are going to fork out 13K for a Vette, get what you want at least...if you like the 80-82's...get one....don't settle for less.
