Hey guys,I own a C-5, and am interested in buying a C-3 off my brother-in-law.The car is a 78 with mild interior wear,needs A/C work and cosmetics on the paint, has 79,000 miles on it .He says he will let me have it for $12.000 ,me thinks thats little to high ,any comments would be helpful.
...a price guide I looked at says non-1978 Pace Car or Silver Anniversary to be...
Fair=$5875
Excellent=$18,375(which to me I would say is also on the high retail side, unless this is an ultra low mileage car in "new in the wrappers" condition)
Good=$10,300
...with the mileage, wear and A/C issues I'd say he's more like $5K over what it's really worth. You can go to various sites like AutoTrader.com and UsedCorvettes.com to see more asking prices.
I think thats a bit high for an 82. Esp. if it needs paint. I got a few quotes from corvette shops, just a real, proper paint job can cost 8850.00 to 10,000, depending on the condition of the fiberglass.
Thanks guys,thats what I was thinking, more around 7 or 8K amybe.The car runs well and has a few leaks from the tops but it is almost 30years old.I still would like to find an 80-82 car in good shape I think that is one of the best looking vettes made.
