700r4 help/???????
Is the tailshaft on all 700r4s the same?I have a 700r4 from a 93 Caprice police car that my friend custom built for me that owns a transmission shop.I'm getting ready to swap a stock style driveshaft/yoke for a shortened driveshaft/yoke w/ a guy that is changing back to a Turbo 400 setup,and doing away w/the 700r4.I just want to make sure that the driveshaft that has been cut will work in the 69 vert that i am building w/LT1,and 700r4.Thanks in advance.I just want to make sure before I do this swap that the already cut driveshaft is going to work w/my setup.THANKS!!!!

I'm sorry.Let me clarify...the tailshaft houseing from where it bolts to the trans...back.Are all 700r4s the same tailshaft housing length?That's the question that I am after.My 700r4 came from a Caprice,and say his 700r4 came from a vett,Camaro,whatever.Are they the same,so when I swap for his already cut,and shortened driveshaft...it will work just fine.Sorry....if the question was hard to understand.I get to rambling......

There are aparently two lengths for the 700r4. One at 29 7/8 and the other 30 3/4. Not sure what the original applications were. If you call Don at 407-880-2882 I am sure he can help you with the info you want. I got the lengths from his website, www.fourthgearinc.com. He is at Daytona speedway this weekend for the turkey rod run.
