I did the 1/2 shafts. Only problem I had has making sure all the pins/rollers were in the caps befor I bolted them in. Dont know how or why but I found 1 pin sitting on the bench and ended pulling them all off to find the one that was missing it. Might mention getting the U-bolts off were a real pain. Nuts were rusted too bad to get off. Ended up cutting and drilling them out. I was afraid of beating on the side of the rear.

I can't understand, for anything, why, they would go to all that trouble making a first class U-Joint, and in stall those cracker jack rings on them. I accually called Spicer tech support and talked to the guy. He was aware of the problem and said they changed suppliers. Got some rings from a shop that just does drive shafts today, but bought the U-joints with them (2). Geuss I'll return the two with cracked rings. mind boggeling

They've had that problem for a couple of years. I've heard the same answer a year ago and still have it happen. I keep some spare rings just in case I need them. Since Ft Wayne has been selling 1/2 shafts I rarely do anymore of them, so I'm working off of 1/2 dozen or so joints I have left.

Great. I'm not doing the U-joints though. I put it into a good shop to have all the last things i need done, done> front AND rear wheel bearings, turn the rotors on the car with the new hunter bolt to Hub machine, 6 new U-joints, plus some other misc stuff I don't feel like doing. this will wrap it up pretty much,, and I can DRIVE it!!!!! Just need a crate motor and a linered fuel cell, at a reasonable price, and i'll see ya for the Wave! I'm putting royal purple 10w40 in for the engine problem, so I can at least drive it around a bit, but it's gonna be smoother then an androids butt. I was getting a nasty drone above 40 mph, after they disconnected the rear half shaft to do the rotor, they said the rear w/b's were shot. I went down there to drop off the U-joints and engine oil and turned it by hand myself, sounded just like it did above 40, only slower the hunter machine does a real nice job,, irregular pattern, kinda generalized on the rotors, fronts were done with the bearings when I went down there yesterday. that drive line is gonna be first class!!! pics of my 16 month list,, now all completed, except for the motor and cell.

You forgot to turn those sheets over to see all the stuff left to do that you wrote on the back.

Must be nice to be almost done. I hope to have that feeling some day.

Good Chevrolet in Alameda. 120hr labor but they don't quote high in labor hours, and have no problem with customer supplied parts. took it thier originally because they were the only shop I could find that had the bolt to hub turning machines for the rotors, and got along with them pretty good, so decieded to let them finish up the work up the work on the Vette. The mechanic doing the work is familiar with older 'Vettes and does good work. Leonord is the service rep, a pretty good guy. check them out.. Chris.

I've seen Good's name mentioned on the NorCal forum, don't recall hearing anything bad

When the time comes ask Leonard if he can set you up with a crate motor(ZZ4 maybe?) I'm sure he can cut you a good deal
