I just read a story about a guy that bought a brand new 68 Corvette roadster brand new in 68 in New York and had it stolen three months later and since moved to California. Twenty seven years later he got a call from New York police saying they found his car. It was silver with a black top and looked in great condition in the picture. If you ever had a Corvette stolen, what were the details and did you ever get it back ? My brother in law bought a brand new 78 anniversary model and drove down to the local diner to get a cup of coffee. Was only in there five minutes, locked the doors, and when he came out it was gone and no traces that it was ever there. No broken glass or skid marks where it might have been drug onto a flatbed. He was told by the police that he would probably never see the car again, which he didn't. They said it was probably already in the back of an 18 wheeler heading down south to be parted out. Telling your story might help someone else from having their vette stolen.
Yep, same 1984 Vette twice. First time when it was about a year old. Took the insurance company one year to get it back to me. Second time it completely dissapeared. No trace, red/red Z51 with a 4+3 Nash transmission. Slowest Vette I ever owned. Used a 151 cam to wake it up.

I had an 87 convertible ( C4 ) that I wished someone would steal. Even the thieves didn't want it. Beautiful car, just wouldn't run right.
a freind of mine had a 70 chevelle ss when we were in hs, he lived in joliet and started it to warm it up one morning and went and got his wallet and some crap from his room and heard it drive away called the cops and they found it in an alley a few weeks later minus wheels, engine&trans, fenders, hood,doors,bucketseats,radiator,etc... it was basicly a shell and this was long before ebay. i think they gave him like 4000 for it from the insurance but this was back in 88 so??
My first Corvette, bought it in 1968, a 1964 convertible, factory air, 4-speed, 327/300HP. I was living in Dallas and my 64 was stolen in June 1969. Thanks to the Dallas policeman, he spotted the car several days later in Dallas. The driver stopped and ran, the policeman pursued him and tackled him. I left for an overseas military assignment two days later and sold the 64 while overseas. Never did get to thank the policeman, sure wish I had. Just tried a few weeks ago to get the police report to find out who he was.
