First time on the forum!! I know Pontiac offers vehicle backround info via the PHS. Is there any business or person that can provide that type of data other than GM resto package or NCRS ?

29,
Are you looking for info for a particular car? A little more information on you and the car might get you some answers to help you get pointed in the right direction.
Happy New Year!!!!

I'm looking for info on a 68' vette for my brother, we have decoded the vin number but are looking for something like how Pontiac provides original documentation such as factory options and what dealer the vehicle was sent to.

try these links. You are not going to get any help from GM on anything that wasnt built at Bowling Green.

No one does what Pontiac does for owners...There was some talk back about a year ago but its died down. As noted you can get a GM package with a VIN number but no corvette specific documentation is available for a 68.

Not true. Window stickers are available back through most of 77 production (the first few weeks of 77 are missing, last I heard). Bowling Green production didn't start until '81.

where can you get them? Everything I read has said that if it was built in St Louis, the records werent fiched. I am still trying to find my build sheet, I'm in the process of dropping the tank now to see if I am going to get lucky (and replace the lines).

The window sticker/dealer invoice thing has been discussed numerous times here over the past several years. GM was doing it for free at first, but they started farming the job out and now it's $50 a sheet.

Again, poor information,
The Window Sticker is a completely different document then the Dealer Invoice. So if one does order the dealer invoice from Allied Vaughn please don’t expect to also receive a copy of the original window sticker with it.

I paid the $50 to get the sheets on my two 80 L-82 cars, they are for sure NOT window stickers , they are more like dealer invoices (I say "like" to not get my head ripped off by the post police, for not using the proper term) They do have alot of kool info , One of mine was shipped on my dads birthday and the other shipped on my birthday, that was kinda kool , it also has: Dealer name and address, Dealer pricing, options on the car, and color of car and int. At first I thought that $50 was kinda high but when you think of it, it really isn't bad, $50 to document your car, bet you would pay a guy $100 for paperwork with your VIN on it off ebay Thanks, Jamie "just my two cents"

I had checked into this with allied, the same people that make these. They wanted me to tell them what all my car had, then they would make me a window sticker. I want an original build sheet from the factory telling me what all options my car had originally.

Actually if you've got an 82 (and I'm assuming on basis of name) than you can get a copy of your vehicle's build sheet from the National Corvette Museum and get a copy of the dealer invoice through Allied Vaughn as described above. You should only have to give them you VIN...they don't make them up. The retail invoice (window sticker) is a document derived from the dealer invoice...all of which is extracted from the same data set for a given vehicle.
