Does anyone have knowledge of Chevy, from the factory, installing a center console engine data plate in a car with a higher horsepower rating than what should be on the plate. I've been told that the original owner wanted a more powerful engine so Chevy, from the factory, modified the engine and installed the data plate with the modified engines new higher horsepower rating. Plate looks real, only exception is the fonts on the horsepower rating are a little different in size from the fonts on all the other data.
Thanks
Just a guess, but I'm thinking that Chevrolet isn't going to custom build an engine on a production car and then custom modify the data plate. Even if the Corvette was a low production model, it was still a production model. I doubt that the plate or the modifications are factory. Sounds like some P.O. customized the console plate to match his modifications and made up a back story to go with them.
Odds are that a previous owner changed the plate to impress his friends. Then he sold the car and gave them a "song and dance" about the engine plate to buck the price.
