The corvette black book shows that 1,671 78's were ordered without radios. Also, of the 40,274 built, 37,638 were built with a/c, 37,358 were built with tilt, 36,931 were built with power windows and 30,912 were built with the rear defogger.

Not knowing the breakdown, I would guess maybe 2,000 -2,500 COULD have been built that way.

I ordered the car new in 12/77,dealer wrote down payment non-refundable due to nature of order as they didnt want to be struck with it.I have all paper work including the original window sticker.I'm now restoring it and was wondering how many were made.

...ah, my kind of car. It's neat, but it would also be cool if it was an L-82 4spd.

...couple of years ago around my area there used to be a "no option" Red/Oyster Cloth interior L-48 4spd '79 with blackwall tires and original rally wheels running around. It was very too.

Before you get carried away with your restoration, do a reality check. No matter how perfect you can make it, it will always be a low-option L48, rubber bumper C3. If you're doing this for the marketplace it's highly unlikely you'll ever recover an over-investment. On the other hand, if this car is your pride and joy which you never intend on parting with, by all means knock yourself out. Just be careful not to end up going to such an extent that you can't enjoy the fruits of your labor of love.

Do you have any knowledge of how many 77's were made with a radio delete option? I found my build sheet and it had a radio delete option

The book shows 1,248 77's out of 49,213 built were radio delete cars.

Remember that radio delete is valuable as an option when the reason for the deleted radio is a performance option that precludes installation of the radio. The radio credit is noteworthy for a 78, but not really uncommon at 1400 cars. Don't expect a huge bump for the lack of radio. If the plate is the same as a 68/69 delete plate, expect that to be worth the real money...to a guy with a 68/69!

Considering that the console was significantly changed starting with the 77 model year, I'd be surprised if a new delete plate wasn't designed for those years.

The delete plate just covers the hole for the radio and controls held in place by a metal clip. it's been discontinued and there is no after market.I have my original.

Jon thanks for that info. Someone thru the years did put a radio in my 77 but I still have the option on my build sheet. With that radio delete option was there still an antenna installed on the car?

I really don't know, usually there is an option for a power antenna, but I don't see one for 77. I don't think they would produce bodies without the antenna hole for radio delete cars or if the holes are put in during production, I just don't know for a fact.

Maybe someone else will know..............
