Default 72 corvette project

I found a 72 corvette project near me for 6500 its in good condition except there is driver side fender damage, how much would it be to replace the fender and paint it? and is it worth to buy the car and fix it?

About $2,500 for the fender work and $10,000 for a complete paint job.

I hope you're joking... I thought the fender work would be like 1000 and the entire repaint would be 3000

Is it because it's fiberglass?

If it's JUST the fender that's damaged it won't need a complete paint job. A good paint shop can match and blend it.

Default Pics?

Can you post a photograph of the '72? It would help us a lot with suggestions and estimates.

I'm not from Indiana, but I know here in the north Seattle area a good quality paint job is expensive. In part because it's old fiberglass, the proper preparation is "involved", and the customer is usually very particular.

Plus, I don't think you can get a lacquer finish anymore due to EPA regulations. That may not be an issue for you though. Anyhow, good luck with your research.

Make sure you check for rust... the fiberglass can hide a POS underneath. Do a search on the forum so that you know what to look for.

As an Illinoisan, I can tell you that paint job costs can vary due to location.
I'm bias. As long as the frame was good, for 6.5K I'd buy that 72 and do whatever it took to restore.

Depends on how weathered the rest of the paint is.

A driving '72 for $6500 sounds like a decent deal.

take LOT'S of pics before you buy. Especially under the car, where the frame is and around the wheel wells. Also, If you can, remove the kick panels and take pics of the body mounts there. There are a lot of threads about this stuff. Do a search of the forums for birdcage rust.

Is it white, and has clear plastic tapped over it,asnd the same guy has a bunch of other cars for sale?If so..it was offered to me for 5500.00,and he was going to pul;l the frame.Get on craiglist, and just go to all the surrounding states, and hit every city, and type in corvette at the top.It takes forever, but you will find something w/alittle patience. They are out there. If this is the same 72...the frame pulling scared me.Be patient,if it is...
