was watching barret jackson reruns and was surprised to see a 69 stingray with 427 go for 95k, anyway guys on show were talking about how 7 years ago the cars were going for so much less and said they would buy a hundred of whatever if they only knew. question is how much did a steel bumper C3 appreciate in last 7 years and where do you think they will be in 7 years from now?
I don't watch. First off I don't think you can use BJ to gauge the value of these cars unless you want to spend an extra $50K to buy a nice one. Second, it's shows and transactions like this that keep the price rising so eventually no one will be able to find and buy a nice C3 just for the fun of it.
judging by recent history, an early c3 is rising in value about 12% a year. I hope the economy can survive the energy prices and declinig housing market. If things get bad, people will be selling what they can live without just to survive. This may mean a glut of classic cars on the sales floor. It is a gamble, and some will be lucky, some won't.

If you would have bought one 10 years ago it would have cost 15,000 for a nice small block.I wish C-3's would be split up to Crome bumper, non bumper cars. BIG DIFFERENCE. My opinion is to buy the best 68/72 Conv. you can afford. It will make you money should you chose to sell but why. They are fun to drive & are fast.

Don't care ! I'm not selling. I'll be dead when my wife sells mine, but she will know what it is worth.
I positively love watching Barrett Jackson; I'll watch the entire coverage. It's fine entertainment.
That said, please don't be one of those people who believe prices seen on Barrett Jackson are remotely related to real-world prices the other 51 weeks of the year. Please.
I was searching for a chrome bumper for the last 8 years or so. when I started my search, I remember seeing prices of 10-12K for the SBs and 16-18K for the BBs (thats a good over-all condition car, or lets say alittle better than a driver), I ended up buying a decent '71 BB for 16.5K 14 months ago, so in my point of view, I havent seen any dramatic price increase. Just my 2 cents.

Seems to me they only cause prices to be jacked up cause people watch that and think theirs is worth 100,000 grand when in reality anything is only worth so much, for that kind of money I better be able to live in it. lol Z-MAN I love the color of your car is that original? OMG sell no way and as far as my husband selling mine when I am dead well after getting my dream car I have decided to live forever.

Our cars are worth more to us then to someone that wants to buy them. You can sell your car for what ever someone is willing to pay. As far as BJ that's just a buying frenzy, who knows who got a good deal.
