Default Lifts - Whose got one? (pics please!)

I've noticed several people have lifts on the forum. I was just wondering who had them. For those that have them, can you please post a pic and tell us the brand and approximate cost? Pros and Cons of your lift would be nice too!

Here is a picture of mine. Absolutly one of the best things I have ever done. Makes the car so much easier to work on. I have been working on my back for the last 20 years. Now everything is in plain sight and so easy to get the car up. The only con I have is tha tI had to get one with the cables on the floor. I did not have enough ceiling height for an overhead model. Oh well. This is still great. I have a small 2 car garage and this was the best fit. I got mine for about 1500 ay Greg Smith in Delaware. I picked it up in a 9 foot trailer and installed it myself.

Gordon, I like you lift. I've noticed that Greg Smith is also in Indiana?

Here's mine, it is a ProPark 8, got it from Greg Smith in Atlanta. Came with a sliding jack 3500lb capacity, jack tray and drip trays. Delivered price was about $2700. I have 12' ceilings so wasn't concerned about the height of the columns. My garage door also goes straight up to the ceiling. I feel very safe working on the cars underneath this thing. You basically raise it to the desired height you want, then let it down on the locks. I make sure all locks are engaged before I go underneath. Good luck on your search.

I, been kicking this around but am seriously concerned about ceiling height. GordonM how high is your cieling? Noticed you took out your flourescent tubes over the car.

Used to live in Collingswood about 30 years ago.

My ceiling is 10'6". The reason the tubes are out is I was wiring them up. I also moved the other long one over so I have two 8 footers over the car now. I have about 8 to 10 inches when the car is fully up on the lift. With the lift I have you need 111" or 9'3". That is how high the columns are. If that is all you have you would not be able to go all the way up with the lift. I put my wifes Altima on the lift and it was closer to the ceiling but still cleared. I'm sure my Trailblazer would hit the ceiling.

The picture I posted is with the car not fully up either. That was the first trial run with the lift.

I have a finished 8ft ceiling with an unfinished junk storage/crawl space above it. My thought was to cut a hole in the ceiling to allow room for the cab. I'd only be able to raise it up to the top of the body. I just measured it and because the back is taller thatn the front I'd only gain about 8 inches but maybe thats enough. My goal is to get the toy up so I can put my daily driver underneath. How stable is it - to leave it up for a long time?
Thanks

Very stable. When I first got the car on there I raised it about a foot and really trounced on the front and rear. Pretty much tried to knock it off. It will wobble a little but will not move. The pads have big rubber biscuits on them so it is pretty stable. I asked about storing the car and he said he has many customers that store on a 2 poster. I have left mine up in the air for a week and a half so far. Only been up for 2 weeks.

Here is a pic of my drive-on lift with my Cobra on it. Don't know if you can still get these, but they are VERY stout. It was about $900 and works great for almost all activities. there is even a heavy gauge steel cross platform for jacking up and removing wheels, etc.

Here's my setup:

Gemini 4 post lift - I have had it for 3 years, not a single problem or safety concern. It's like any other piece of machinery, you have to operate and maintain it properly.

Delivered to my driveway and "setup" by the vendor (with my help) for just over - $2K

My garage ceiling height is 9' 4". I had to raise the garage door tracks and the opener. I can only back the cars in on it due to my garage depth and how far in from the garage door wanted to place the lift.

If your going to buy a 4 post lift and work on your car often, go ahead and get (2) jack trays.

Good luck

I just came across this thread on a four-post. If you have one or are thinking of getting one, it emphasizes the importance of bolting down the uprights. A Must Read!
