Correct and some other little things. No 350, different door panels, dash, console, frame, side louver inserts, rims, etc.

I had heard someplace that the frame was actually the same as a 67?

A stop light switch that's 68 and Corvette only, no vacuum control valve for the heater temperature control, inner door latches that are 68 only and all of the other things listed above. I sometimes wish when I was looking for a 68-72 I narrowed the list to 69-72. But the blue 68 beast in the garage has really grown on me and it keeps Corvette Central and Doc Rebuild in business!

I didnt hear exactly what the TV guy said, but he was probably talking about quick visual differences. If 2 completely original cars drove by, one a 68 and the other a 69, the easiest differences to spot would be the door buttons on the 68 and the Stingray script on the 69.

Then of course you would note the backup lights on the 68, and/or lack thereof on the 69, and of course if you glanced at the interior you could spot numerous differences like the map holder/glove pocket in the 69, the column lock ignition key on the 69 vs the in dash ignition key on the 68, and those wonderful seatbelt holders on the 68.

If you took the wheels off you would notice 7" on the 68 vs 8" on the 69 and of course a gazillion other differences.

They were for the early 68s to see the change see the picture under the heading:
"Mid 1968 - Extra gussets added in the kickup area on all cars."
at this web page:
http://www.71corvette.com/frames.html

I found this web page after I notice my 68 had the extra support and thought I had the wrong frame (I have a late 68). I'm very glad I have the late frame since GM recommends 69 or later frames should be used for racing due to the extra support.

Also early 68's had the driver side rear view mirror closer to the fender than late 68 and up vettes. They changed the position once they realized that you cant see too well out of it on the early ones.

Features that easily distinguish the 1968 from the 1969 if
viewed while passing by..

Side, 68, no chrome gills.

Back, 68, 4 red tail lites with the backups underneath the
bumpers.

Front, 68, nothing noticeable unless you see the chrome
leading edges on the grill vanes.

Any of the other differences would be visible by much closer scrutiny when compared side by side.

...also when a passenger side outside rear view mirror is installed on an early '68 that has the "forward" driver's outside rear view mirror, ONLY the passenger can use it.

Except no OEM mirrors on the right side {passenger} for a 68.

Curious after or around what serial # or what date did they add this feature.........my car body was built, trim tag 4/11/68 motor 4/1/68 uncertain if it has it or not, going to look later today.
