Default Pronunciation ?

I have a 70 vert that is "Mulsanne Blue". Not to look like "newbie" what is the correct pronunciation - "mule sane" or "mull sane" - thanks

Might be pronounced Mull saun nay, as it is French. And there were Bentley's with that name also. Mulsaunne is a commune of the Sarthe département in France.

Additionally, Mulsanne is the famous straightaway on the Circuit de la Sarthe that is used in the sports car endurance race 24 Hours of Le Mans.

I've heard it pronounced MUL-san by race announcers so assume that is correct.

How about Mille Miglia Red?

my next door neighbor had (moved , I'm sure still has) a Mulsane 70 convertible. When I asked, he said "mull sane"

I figured for the 25k he dropped for it, that must be how to pronounce it.

That is where the name actually comes from. The previous blue used was Le Mans Blue, there was some confision with that name due to the Pontiac Le Mans. So Chevrolet decided to change it to Mulsane Blue to still honor the Le Mans Race. THose that know the race, know about the Mulsanne Straightaway so that is how the name came to be.

Now I am not a know it all, but I heard this explanation on the Barrett Jackson Auction this year and found it interesting.

It's pronounced Mull Sann with no emphasis on either syllable. The 'e' in Mulsanne is silent, like the 'p' in swimming.

mull sane as in insane. And as far as the BJ announcers go,they may know a little something about the other cars going across the block, but they know JACK S**T about the vettes.

Good question.

I had always pronounced it mull sane. Interesting to see the different variations.

I always heard it mull sane. If the french have another way, I'll say it when they speak our english with the proper pronunciation. I saw 25,000 French Army rifles on E-bay- "never been fired, only dropped once"! "

Sorry, Couldn't help myself

Mull-san, mull-sane, both sound fine. More importantly, how do I teach my wife that the correct name for a certain color is War Bonnet Yellow, not, uh, feline excrement yellow.
