All gone for many years xcept the 77 and 2 79s which I still have.
All were bought new with the exception of the 57 which I bought
used in 59 for 900.00. Back then it was "just another used chevrolet"
Since doing the 81 over the last few months I have really enjoyed the whole process and I think I will stick with getting older Corvettes, So far I have really enjoyed fixing this one up.
So there is your anwer

Here is my question at 33 what the heck do you do for a living to have those kind of toys at such a young age?
This 1972 L-48, 4-sp, no a/c car is very first vette.
For now, it shares space with a '72 Z-28 that I've owned since '82. Guess I need more garage space to satisfy my desire. Jones-in' for C3's!

The only thing better than owning an old vette is owning as many as you can store..
I mean you're talking about some pretty "High End" vehicles there. Don't get me wrong, I've always liked the "LOOK" of 80-82 Vettes,....but I've owned a C5, and drove a Viper before, and I just can't image why anybody would ever sell (the kind of cars listed below) and buy a 190HP late model C3? Again, I'm just curious.

Right around then I totally lost interest in the racing scene, but since I was still a motorsports junkie one way or another I figured I'd get into off-roading instead. I got rid of the TA and the Viper, but kept my 81 vette - at the time the only reason I kept it was because I had put so much time into it. The other cars I just had money in and didn't really care, but the vette was an investment in time - bought a $4,400 junker and turned it into a like-new beauty and I just couldn't part with it.
I ended up getting a Jeep Wrangler as my DD and kept the vette just to have a nice car to go out on dates in, it was always my favorite anyway. About a year later I heard about someone who was selling a fully restored 68 427/390 vert and ended up buying that. I've had all 3 cars ever since. Then last year I met some people that were racing and would rent the track for a day just to run their own cars around and figured I'd get into it again, so I picked up the 80 L-82 to build into a track car. Of course now I have 3 kids and more sense than money, so it's a much slower project now than it would have been when I was 20.
I don't really know what it is about the C3 where I just keep coming back to them. They're just timeless like that, and that sets them apart from every other car out there - even the other Corvettes. The chrome-bumper cars are nothing but class, and the 80-82's just have this look about them that's both classic and modern at the same time. I don't think I'll ever sell any of my vettes, and I probably won't ever sell the Jeep either. When you find what you like, you stay with it.
