Looking for some feedback on an interesting thing that just happened to me.
Our 1979 low milage car with a new ZZ4 crate engine with about 100 miles. Yesterday, parked the car, after turning it off inadvertantly left it in reverse. About 7 hours later tried to start the car (in park), and it would not fire, engine spun very good but no fire. Put the car in park and left it for the night. Went out this morning and it fired up immediately.
It was a dry day, so moisture would not be an issue. Starting has been trouble free up untill now.
Pull the ignition module out from your distributor and get it tested.a module will be fine when its cool, but when exposed to operating temps contacts spread apart and car will turn over but "no fire".Let it sit, it cools ,contacts shrink back together, car fires. Not a 100% diagnosis but has happened to myself on more than one occasion with a G.M. HEI.
