Default Exhaust

Well I figured I would try and paint my exhaust and mufflers instead of buying new ones. The only reason I was going to get new ones was so they would look new. I went and got some hammered rust-oleum silver and put it on with a sponge brush. While I was at it I also painted my spare tire cover.

I thought you were going to put Stainless Magnaflows on there? You'll like them much better. I love mine

It'll start to flake off, and look like crap while it is doing so. Just wirebrush it off.

If you own some normal hand tools and can get the car 24 inches in the air, putting sidemount headers on is a DIY thing. Toughest part is knocking all the original pipes off.

Zero- Once those mufflers get hot, the ordinary paint will start to flake. Even the hi-temp stuff needs frequent touch ups.

Dulpicolor has a great product. It is a 1200 degree Aluminum paint.

I sprayed my old pipes and the finish was still looking great after many months.

Just get car on a lift and use news paper and tape to mask off.

One more thing. I suggest you consider welding the pipes so you can do away with the clamps just past the strut rods. The look will be much cleaner.

That looks good.

I painted the muffler of my wife's new I30t back in 2000 with Krylon flat black. It still looks good today.

On the spare tire carrier, I would have gone with a flat dark grey on the fiberglass parts, to mimic the look of the original, and gloss black on the metal frame for contrast.

The important part, is that you are concerned how your car looks to all those cars you just blew the doors off of !

h2ohouse,
Come on ... you're dancing with the devil. I would kick 1 of the stools, the spring would fall at just the right angle for the end retainer to put a HOLE in the door!!!!!!!!!!
Regards,
Alan

Good point...I am slowly learning that I have to be carfull. I have already had my wiper door linkage drop off the roof of the car and catch the mirror on the way down. I took the spring down right after the picture.
