Default Cleaning interior pieces

So im planning on doing my interior sometime soon, and some pieces i believe are still usable (from the t-top panels back). The only problem is that they are dirty because the POs smoked in the car, leaving all the panels black and sticky. What products do you use to clean them off? I have heard of 'simple green' as a possibility...
Also if you post a product, where do you get them at?

Simple Green is good (from hardware stores, Sam's...) BUT...for interior pieces I have found that Citrus Goo Gone (grocery stores, near 409) is THE BEST.

It is a great cleaner, and the citrus oil (d-limonene) in it rejuvenates plastic, rubber, and vinyl like nothing else.

Try and find the spray bottle, else the stuff in the small bottle is just as good.

Any dish detergent will work fine. I think Dawn does a good job of cutting grease. Don't use it on leather, of course. But it's fine with any vinyl...and you really need to get those parts clean, rinsed and dry before you can expect vinyl dye to stick well.

When I bought my car, it was also obviously owned by a smoker as well. I used Spray Nine, and it cleaned it amazingly! It was kinda cool to watch it turn a brownish-yellow color from the nicotine as it ran down the interior pieces! I love this stuff so much now, I use it to clean my car all the time, it works awesome on the chrome and polished aluminum, and it even works well on the paint! The trick is to not let it dry or leave it on too long. This stuff easily removes grime and grease that other stuff won't.

3M Leather and vinyl Restorer. One step cleaner and conditioner. Leaves a nice matte finish. NOT greasy or too shiny. Great product that gives a nice clean original look to the interior.

Default The Tannery

Try the Tannery Leather/Vinyl Cleaner. available at Ace Hardware. Really great stuff. Used it on all my C3s' and now my C6. Not only does it clean, but, it makes it look like the day the dealer delivered the car with the not shiny glean.

I can buy it just about anywhere here in Canada, I don't think it is a Canadian only product, so try anywhere that sells cleaning products.

We used to use this in Auto Shop back in high school circa 1980. I've used it ever since. I think I bought it at either Safeway, or the Napa parts store. Check Wal-Mart, too. Excellent cleaner.

Simple Green is a great product for cleaning most interior pieces, however, you should be weary of the presence of silicates. Silicates will cause any type of dye to create fisheyes when you paint. The best way to remove silicates is to purchase a PPG MX190 product. It can be bought at any PPG supply store.

Best of luck...
