My 69 which was born on September 3rd 1968 does not have the Stingray emblems on the sides of the fenders. Nor can I see where there were any holes drilled for them. Any one else with an early 69 with no emblems?
Is this a one-owner car? If not its POSSIBLE that this is a replacement/aftermarket frontend and the holes for the emblem were a drill if needed depending on the year.
Mine is 00248. And no I am not the first owner but the 3rd. The first owner I can't find but I do know the second owner and it is how he bought it. Who knows, guess I will put some on.

If you are interested in keeping it original I would leave them off until someone with real knowledge could check it out. That early of a 69 may not have had the emblems. It's your car so it's your call if you want them.

I want it to be how it is suppose to be. I just thought since it was such an early car maybe they did not put them on until later down the line. And there is infinite wisdom on this board and figured someone might know.
69`s have the emblems. To imagine that they were purposely left off at the Vette factory is to admit that two people screwed up in forgetting to place them on each side. This was a frequent mistake at Chrysler's by the wrong badges and or no badges was their issue.{ie} Dodge on a Plymouth or vice versa.
I am also a September 68 build (2189) and I have the Stingray emblems on both sides.
Mine, 2185 is very close your build and has both Stingray emblems.
Greg's is one of the first few days of production. However the launch of the 69 made a fuss of a new Stingray so I'd be surprised if any were made without badges. My NCRS judging guide doesn't mention anything about the missing emblem on early 69s.

Has the car been repainted? When I bought my '69 it didn't have the emblems. Later found out they had been removed and the holes filled in when someone had it repainted.
248 is a very early car. I would check the fenders on the inside to see if they are original. Then look for filled holes on the backside in the area of where the emblems should be. Their should be filler sticking through the hole or the sign of a repair. We all know 68 didn't have the emblems and if the fenders were the same in 69 they may have drilled the holes till the fenders came with the holes. I'm sure GM would have used the old stock up.

Chrysler having quality issues...I can't believe it
In all seriousness, 69s are supposed to have emblems. Some early runs of model yrs would get leftover parts from earlier yrs, but not the other way around.
This is a 69 at body drop. There seems to be no side trim.
Lots of crazy things happened at model change over. The only way to tell is to let someone how knows how to tell, check the panels to determine if they are original.
It had 69 badges and either the front end was crashed or the guy didn`t like the word stingray' and took them off like I would have. I wiped the stingray off my 63 coupe and all badges, even the FI emblems. And cut the window out, and took the front bumper off, and put an 65 grill in it, and added a 65 stinger hood, and 65 side skirts, and side exhaust.......
best bet, one of the owners left them off as new panels dont have holes.
Despite Ironcross's declaration, I wouldn't be so sure it came with the emblems. Your car is not simply an early '69, it is very very early. We all know that "they way they were" isn't always the case. What happened on assembly lines was rather loose. Some early '69s got the silver edged grill, even though that's a '68 detail. For same reason, yours may have left without the new-for-'69 emblem.
If the inner surfaces of your front clip indicate it's a factory piece, and if there are no spots of filler, then I'd say that's the way it came.
Here's another thought... are you planning to have the car judged at a high level? If not, the next question becomes, what do you like? Emblems or bare fenders? It's your car. Consider going with the look you prefer.
I will never have it judged, I'm going to drive it, I just wanted to keep it as close to original as I could.

Your best bet to tell if they are original is go to an NCRS chapter meeting with your car as a visitor. Their will be lots of interest in your real early 69. You won't need to join up just visit and decide.
