Default NADA Retail Value

A friend sent me the link to the NADA collector car retail value website and I looked up the "value" of my '70 L46 Coupe..... HOLY COW! Where did these numbers come from? Obviously too many people watching Barett-Jackson setting these prices.

1970 Chevrolet Corvette 2 Door Sport Coupe

Low Retail $26,655
Average Retail $47,330
High Retail $70,695

As most people who have been around for awhile know, NADA prices are completely ficticious and delusional. The problem is when naive Corvette owners start believing them and/or when sellers start quoting them when they come up with their irrational selling prices.

The term "Retail" in the NADA guide refers to what a commercial dealer would price one at. Not necessarily what he might actually sell it for....just it's stated price.

A 69-70 L46 350/350 is a great motor and very desirable and the performance is not that far off from a LT-1.As far as prices i have seen clean original coupes in the 26-28k range and verts in the low 30k range.Case in point a 70 350/350 vert with POP,strong docs and owner history just sold for 52k.Next to a LT-1,the L46 is the best small block vette you can buy at almost half the price.
