Default Corvette frame VIN ???

Im trying to help a guy figure out what year the frame is he has. He thinks its late 60 to mid 70. Its a rolling frame so the axles are in place. Any way of telling what year it is for sure. Is there a VIN on the frame itself?

If there it would be stamped drivers side aft of kick-up, top horizontal surface.

You could always post a picture and ask same question!

There is a link somewhere here that identifies all the changes on the C2/C3 frame from 63 up, but I can't find it now. Thought I saved it.

But if I remember right, frames up through 68 did not have diagonal braces at the kickups. 69 and newer do. Also, I think the 73 and newer frames have a tube mounted up front used as a vacuum reservoir. 72 and older used a body mounted tank. There were changes at the front and rear of the frames after 73 with the change from steel bumpers to collapsible bumpers.

i hope someone will correct me if i'm wrong; I am just trying to go from memory!

The VIN would be on the top of the frame about where the driver's seat is and also just about above the rear wheel on the driver's side. If there is much surface rust the numbers might be missing. They weren't stamped very deep into the frame. The numbers were clearly visible on the replacement frame that I bought but it was in exceptionally good condition. The numbers were long gone on the original frame.
