Found a nice paint for the engine bay
I've been struggling with getting my engine bay painted over the last few weeks and have a story for you.
Everything was primed, masked and ready to go a few weeks back. So off I went to my Paint Supplier to buy some black enamel, flattened 25%. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to flatten the paint and sold me a quart of POR-15 chassis black that was suppose to match the factory finish.
I mixed the paint correctly and was doing OK until I left my a$$ print on the inner fender.
So I cleaned it up, sprayed again and got a run. Third coat, more runs.
Once it dryed, I had myself a nice mess. Not only did the runs pop out all over, the finish turned all blotchy. So I started sanding the whole engine bay again. POR-15 is not fun to sand!
Today I went out and bough a quart of MAR-HYDE Satin Black. It comes pre-mixed and all you need to do is get it in the gun and shoot.
A little more cautious this time, I sprayed the heater box as a test. I gotta tell you the stuff looks terrific. Nice and smooth, good coverage and the perfect finish.
All I gotta do now is finish sanding and that POR-15 and I'll be ready to try the Engine Bay one more time.
If it turns out well, I'll post a few shots by the weekend. If not I'll post a rant!
Take care

Thanks for looking.

I figure it's best to leave it alone to tonight, so I'll pull the tape off tomorrow and take a few more shots of the finished product.
