I do not have power to my power windows!! When I connect the window to the battery they work. I checked all the fuses and they are good. I think I may have a bad power window relay does anyone know how to check the relay to see if it is good?
The relay should send 12vdc out to the window motors when you depress the switch. Turn car to "on" [don't start it], set up multimeter for DC volts, connect + lead to the output terminal of the relay (the input side should have 12vdc on it all the time), and have someone depress a window switch. If that doesn't show any voltage, the relay is bad. If it does show 12vdc on the relay output, the problem is in the window switches or the wiring to the motors.
The power window relay should supply power to the window switches all the time the ign is on. From the switches the wires go directly to the window motors. There is a circuit breaker in the fuse box for the windows, it is in the top left just beneath the emergency flasher.
If one window works and the other doesn't can you just try changing the switches to see if the switch is bad...??? I'm guessing they are reversible...right?
