Default Pulling window motors - BOTH brackets busted

Might be my own fault..... partly......
I took off the inside door panels some time ago to adjust the glass.
Of course this led to this led to this. The dash is out, most inside trim is out, shifter console, gauge cluster.....etc, etc.
But I ended up driving it as a semi DD.

So, closing the door, there is this rattle. Motor bracket has the 2 upper bolts. I figured it banged against the lower bracket. I groped around and realized the lower bracket was the broken off part of the entire bracket.

Groped the other door and found the same damn thing!

Possibly, I contributed to it driving without the door panels. The motor just sort of hangs off into space off the bracket. Presumably it lays against the door panels that aren't there for the last month or so.
Possibly everytime I slam the door they flex the bracket.

So.... I have to pull both brackets/motors to get them welded.

How?

Roll the windows up, scotch them off in the tracks so they don't move?
Just unbolt the brackets and pull them? Haul them off to be welded and stuff them back up there?
I've done some other work on the car and KNOW there must be more to it than that! Any pointers?

Default No structure

It has been a long while, but, I don't remember the door panel having any structural connection to the window motors. It is only held on with plastic clips and two little screws.

Sorry to pop your bubble but your going to have to remove more than that to drop the motors. Now I may be wrong and damn I would try everything else before, but I put all my doors together a couple months ago and if I'm not mistaken the windows have to be out. the rollers from the window will not allow you to slide out the roller from the motor.

BTW, one of mine was also cracked, its probably a fatigue defect, the steel panel is very flimsy, everytime its slamed it bounces quite a bit.

But with the panel off, the motor is flapping in the breeze. The panel might take up at least a little of the motion.

When I get 'em welded and back in, I'm putting a little strap across the motor to keep it from too much travel.
