For my 78 wheel cap emblems,I use #85 Diamonds & Rubies Sally Hansen fingernail polish....but that don't match the body emblem red...

You might take your emblem to Walmart and match the red... there are godzillian number of fingernail red colors...

I re-did mine and purchased some Porcelain craft paint (for glass and metal) at a Michael's craft store. The red (scarlet red) is a dead-ringer of a color match and even allows a little gleam of the chrome to show through..which is great. This type of paint gets 'baked' on after it dries, so it is permanent and stands up to weather very well. The off-white color on your old emblem is due to aging. The original white was close to "refrigerator" white when it was new. If you want some more details on the prep and painting using the Porcelain paint, send me a PM.
