Broke an alternator bolt off in cylinder head on the 69 502 and finally got around to extracting broken piece today at my friends shop..had to use an angle drill to drill hole for easy out...to my suprise, after broken piece out, discovered ANOTHER piece deeper in...extracted that and figure that PO left broken piece in and installed a "shorter bolt"...as both pieces were definately "ends" of different bolts...
First piece....you can just make out "taper" at end of threads..
Bolt broke off here...
2nd piece from deeper inside....
What was a real trick was using an angle air drill to drill broken bolt for easy out due to space constraints...discovered second piece using a small mirror/light....glad I thought of doing that or new bolt would not have gone in deep enough...

I did not do it myself...my friend Kenny is very good at extracting broken bolts...we were joking about switching heads around in case we messed up though...(they are drilled same at each end)...
Pic showing new grade 8 bolts to cyl head......thinking now about using locking tab on bracket bolt to cyl head...but definately will be checking tightness frequently from now on...
