The bolt removal was a success, I'm holding off until I get a 100% work parking brake though. I just have to figure out the easiest way to get the bolt out of the socket now. Any recommendations on that?

The installation on the passenger side was a significantly easier and shorter, only took me thirty minutes to get the new parts in.

I was able to adjust the parking brake at the wheel, boy was that fun... My rotors don't have the access hole drilled in them, so I was constantly taking the rotor off an on. Tried to adjust the cable, but I don't have a way to measure the amount of pressure on the cable, so it's kinda difficult. Got it too tight the first time, need another helper to spin the wheel and pull the parking brake handle, while I adjust the nuts under the car.

It's one bolt and an adjustment shy of being finished.

Thanks for all the help guys

Not sure about the getting the bolt out of the socket, but wanted to let you know which bolts to use when you reinstall the calipers. The original GM bolts had a shoulder on them, and then some threads. Most people just install fully threaded bolts, which is alright I guess, but it isn't the best method. The shoulder helps center the brake caliper, and it also produces a much stronger bolt. You can make your own by going down to your hardware supplier and buying some fine threaded (grade 8) 7/16'' bolts, with a length of 1.75''. They have the correct shoulder on them. Cut them to the correct length using an angle grinder or dremel cutting wheel.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind when I'm looking for a bolt tomorrow.

Good idea, but the full-length threaded Grade 8 bolts will work just fine.

This would be a very important piece of the instructions. I had to fight the new bolt the entire way in. I guess when I was removing the old bolt I somehow did something to the threads. Not exactly sure, what though. The new bolt is in there, no way it's going to come out on it own!

Now I just need a new battery, so I can move the car and adjust the cables.

I'm thinking that you should have run a tap thru the hole to clean up any threads that might have been gooberd up, in fact thats probably why the bolt head rounded off the first time, add in some corrosion and you got a stuck bolt again. Peace,,,Moosie

I thought about tapping it, but I don't have any of that stuff yet.

I had the parking brake adjusted by hand, (the parking brake worked) when I went to test it on the road, it didn't work at all! I adjusted the equalizer all the way to the front of the car and it didn't do anything. I cut a small tube and am going to try that tomorrow. What gives, what did I do wrong? I've been working on this since Wednesday, I would like for the last week to be productive.

They arent real expensive and its a start on a collection that will someday come in handy, thats how it starts. Good luck getting the parking brake to work properly, almost imposssible to do, but it is do'able. Peace,,,Moosie
