Default question about engine stamps

After decking my block, I need to restamp my engine......If anyone has had success with restamping and would consider sharing your success, I'd like to talk.
Thank You Jack

You'll need to replicate the broach marks prior to redoing the stampings. Chances of getting everything 100% correct is very small, why bother?

Why bother? Anyone who looks will know it's a restamp. Once it's been 'restamped', you can never prove that the engine is original.

ok, I think we need some clarification. Is your engine the original that you had rebuilt? Did the rebuilder screw up and deck the stamp? If it is (was) the original block, do you have pics of the old stamp?

You are going to get alot of varying opinions here, from the purist side and the "who gives a sh%t guys...........the question here is, what are you trying to do w/ the car? If you are trying to do an NCRS car, unfortunately, I think you are fighting an uphill battle.......if you intention is just to drive it , have fun, and enoy it, who cares about a stamp?

Let us know the details, thanks, john

Someone asked the same question on the TECH/PERF board. I'll bet the same answers apply!
Regards,
Alan

If your engine is original, I don't blame you for wanting to re-stamp it. Just be aware that people who want to buy 'unblemished' original cars will be able to tell the difference and will suspect you are trying to defraud them...and if you tell them [up front] what happened, most won't believe you. I'm not intending to discourage you...just making you aware of the facts.

I say again...

What kind of car are we talking about here?

It may be pointless to attempt a restamp.
