Yesterday, my 68 Corvette, that I have owned since 1972, was 40 years old.
Looks like it just rolled off the assembly line in St. Louis.
(Of course, it had a ten year $30,000.00 restoration to factory original)
I love this car and will never sell it.
My 30 year old son will be the custodian of it after I go to visit with Zora.

Congrats on the birthday. These old cars are a blast to own and drive. Mine just passed its 38th birthday on 5-8-2008. Still a blast to own and have no plans myself to sell the car anytime soon.
I was like a little kid at Xmas when I first bought this car and I can honestly say, I still get that feeling everytime I drive it after all these years.
I let my oldest son drive it last summer, one afternoon (with me in the car of course) , and he said "Dad, there's something about this car that puts a sh_t eating grin on your face when you drive it".
I agree with him !!!

Shame on you, Paul. Now you've got both of those ladies mad at you.
Kurt,
As the original owner of a 71 Coupe, it does my old heart good to hear when other cars have gotten to spend their days with mainly 1 owner!!!!
Regards,
Alan

Amazing. My 68 has a build date of something like May 13 or 15. I saw the build date on the tank sticker but I now forget what the exact date was. I'll have to get the VIN number. It'd be interesting to compare and see how close these cars were coming down the assembly line. Mine is Convertible, 350 HP, light metallic blue interior and exterior. I also bought mine in something like 1972 or 73.
In the time I've had the car, it's almost been completely remanufactured. When I bought it it had severe front and rear collision damage. Fortunately the frame was not damaged. The car was repaired soon after I bought it with pretty much new fiberglass panels. I drove it off and on until 1985 when it went into storage. I started working on it in 2003 and got it on the road in January of this year. I replaced all the moving parts with new or reworked parts (exception the tranny was not touched, also the windshield wiper mechanism) It rebuilt it so it will run reliably another 40 years. Wish I could say the same for myself!
