I used 3M spray adhesive to glue down my Reflectix, worked great for me with no mess.
Another happy customer of Reflectix and 3M spray adhesive. I used two layers in the normal problem areas; along trans tunnel, floors in front of seats, and inside firewall. Most on here have done the same according to my research.
Also if you haven't done much research yet on this subject, use the high quality aluminum tape to seal all joints, don't use cheapo duct tape. The other common issue people have is the need to adjust the throttle cable to handle the thickness change under the carpet. For this reason, I put one layer only directly under the accelerator pedal.

I was wondering if the additional thickness along the trans tunnel caused fit problems with the shifter console, especially if you doubled it. How was your re-install done in that area?
3M spray adhesive...one layer thick...put Reflectix on every possible surface under the tunnel console and up the inside of the firewall as much as possible. I covered the vertical panel behind the seats, but did not do the storage compartment [too thick to do the doors]. I had no heat problems after the work. No glue on carpet except for vertical panels and aluminum-foil tape on all of the Reflectix joints. It will make an incredible difference in summer driving comfort.
I just did this during the last week to my car and found that the 2' x 25' roll at Lowes ($25) was enough to do the entire car including the insides off door panels and even have a little left over. This was done in conjunction with a new carpet kit and I used almost 3 cans of 3M adhesive in the process of it all. It really helps to change razor blades often - esp. on the carpet detail work/trimming where a clean edge will show.
