So I went to put transmission fluid in the 78 yesterday (I have a slow trans leak). And when I opened the hood I saw there was no transmission dipstick (haven't driven it in a while). Now, I am 99% certain I did not leave it off when I last filled it. But in any case its gone and I need a new one. Would Autozone have something like this?
Either buy an exact replacement or pick one up at a salvage yard from a 'like' vehicle. If you don't, the fill level marks will be off. If you have your car serviced at an oil change place, I'd guess your tranny dipstick is laying on one of their benches. [Did they come show you the 'low' fluid level on that dipstick the last time you were in?]

I don't get my oil changed anywhere. I do all my own work. Or atleast I try to. I guess I'll try and see if auto zone has one. Thanks
Do you have a breather on one of the valve covers? PCV valve on the engine? If neither, you could be building some 'air' pressure inside the engine and that could have 'blown' the dipstick out.
