Ok, so I have to get something off of my chest here.
Any forum member out there with a red vette that broke down on US 75 in Dallas, TX yesterday around 5:00pm?
I took my kids swimming, we were on our way home on the 75 access road, and I noticed a person standing on the shoulder of 75.
I look to my left and then see a 1970-ish corvette (looked like a 79 from afar) broken down in the middle lane of the highway during bumper to bumper rush hour near the George Bush/75 intersection.
My instinct and passion for vettes made me want to do everything I could to help, but with a 6 year old and 2 year old in the car I just couldn't jeopardize their safety by getting out there while they were with me.
I had trouble getting it out of my mind last last night because I really wished I could have helped more.
I drove by this morning and it was gone so I hope everything went ok.
With young kids in the car you did the right thing.
I would not worry about it, with all the traffic I am sure someone stopped or called a tow truck for that person.
most people in Texas cant drive worth a $hit so parking your car with your young kids any where near a freeway is a bad idea. there's always that one person talking on there phone oblivious to everything until they hit your car. at least you wanted to stop and help, that counts for something.
a long time ago before cell phones, someone might have been stranded for a while, but in todays day and age people can summon for help pretty quick, so I am sure the person was fine
ha, anytime i go anywhere in the vette, i take my cell phone and have the tow company"s no. in my contacts list. already had to use it once last year. i'm sure he was fine. you have to be prepared

When I take my Triumph TR3 out I have a Tow company on Speed dial...
Thanks guys. The reinforcement helps my conscience a little!
Like I say, I had to vent and get it out of my head somewhere...
Before I had kids I used to be the guy that always wanted to stop and help in such situations.
This time I had my kids in the car so it was hardly a question, but even when my kids aren't in the car I think more about safety now that I know I have mouths to feed at home.
It seems like every other day there's a story on the news in Dallas about some one pulling over to help, then getting hit, getting robbed, or even getting car-jacked!!!
You definately did the right thing. Between the people in our area killed by DWI's and the car jackings not safe to stop like the good old days used to be. Get your CHL for added security I did.
You did the right thing. You have to think of your children's welfare. Your a stand up guy wanting to do the right thing. It wasn't a life or death situation you drove away from.

And if you didn't get killed by traffic your wife would have killed you for sure. Good call.
If it was stranded in bumper-to-bumper I'm sure there were other peeps out there willing to help. It's not he was out in the middle of no where.
I remember even before I had my vette, one winter night we were getting a little ice on the road. As I was getting on I-75 south in Florence KY I saw a C4 that had spun out and was stranded on a particularly slippery piece. I got out to push, then 2 other cars stopped and we got them on their way.
In spite of the way things sometimes are in our world today there are good Sam's out there. You did the right thing to take care of your little ones
