Default Front clip replacement and the NCRS

How much can someone expect the NCRS to subtract points for a one piece replacement front clip.
Thanks

No info in your profile so I don't know what year you're talking about.
The 68-72 judging sheets show Section 3 - Body Fit, 65 points for originality and 55 for condition. I would guess the front clip is about 25% of the total fiberglass, so.....

Alan

Are you talking one piece jig assembled or one piece hand laid? A big difference between the two.

I agree, but I think even the jig assembled will not look original on the car since it's completely new. The one piece hand laid front ends are weak and near imposible to fit. The bonding strips with press moulded pieces are much stronger. Those guys are pretty good at spotting non original stuff.

They deducted points because I had replacement exhaust manifolds. They were correct, numbers matched but they were new.

I would think the NCRS will have fun subtracting points for a one piece clip.

Enough to leave a mark. Join the NCRS, get on their forum, and post your question. Order the NCRS judging manual for your year and read through it. Judging sheets are in the rear of the manual. You can take a look at what you have and where you know you will lose points, do a little math, and come up with a guestimate of what you could expect to score.

Just to give you an idea the judging is broken into 2 catagories, Originiality and Condition.

For Exterior judging it is broken into 24 areas to be judged. One area is Body Fit, where they judge body, fiberglass and componet fit. Originiality is 65 pts and Condition is 55. You would most probably take a huge hit here with deductions.

This is like asking 'how long is a piece of string?'

NCRS judging based on appearance of typical factory production. Without knowing how much your front end deviates from factory (other than the obvious) no one can answer your question accurately.
