Another insurance thread!
Run a search. This comes up almost as often as gas price threads.
please search. Hagerty is most people's choice. I just had a claim with them and they were fantastic. Told me to take it to whatever shop I wanted and didn't even question the shops quote, just sent me a check.
Perhaps this gentleman desires current information and he's looked through old threads. Don't berate a person because its been discussed before. If you don't want to participate then don't - and don't beat a dead horse, again.
Yes, Hagerty is what I choose - must have locked garage and ocassional use. Good luck and have fun!!! Peter

Not berating anyone Pete. All questions welcome. Just suggesting a simple search.
Unless last weeks thread on Hagerty is considered out dated of course.
Ok?
Maybe we could have one thread or a sticky that covers Hagerty, 255/60 tires, and gas prices? Just a thought?
While I've had my Vette for about 10 years I still have questions in areas that I have previously not gone into*. Having threads like insurance, tires, gas prices, T-arms - you could go on and on. If one is new to Vettes you may not know how to ask the right question and if you look up old threads you can go 12 pages + on some and still not get your question answered. Perhaps if one were to direct a person to a search then suggest topics for them to look up. Just an idea.

Point taken!
Now this is why threads go on and on and the OP's answer doesn't get answered until 6 pages in!
Sorry my68vette.
Hagerty, JC Taylor, Grundy, American Collectors, Leland-West.
There are many more classic/antique carriers that I'm sure other Corvette enthusiasts patronize, but Hagerty seems to win over the crowd here on CF.
Of course make sure you get an agreed value policy.
From looking through old threads, you see Hagerty mentioned most, then Grundy and American Collectors.
Hagerty's website seems pretty specific that you can only use it for pleasure or car shows/parades, but people in the forum here say their phone reps assured them it's OK to drive to work once in a while. American Collector's website specifically says it's OK to drive to work once in a while. Both of these list a mileage limit of 3-5000 per year. Grundy's website says "unlimited hobby use of your collector vehicle in collector activities, exhibits and parades."
Anyway looking though old threads I see a lot of love for Hagerty and their fast service, and recommendations for the other two for their good prices.

From a 'strategic' standpoint, you want to buy collector car insurance...not just add it to your family car policy. Why? Because you can establish a "agreed" value of your car with a collector car policy; with a regular car insurance policy, your car is valued from a generic book. In the case of a C3, book value is minimal...a few thousand [at most] for being totalled. Collector car insurance does have some restrictions, but if your car is not a daily driver or your primary transportation, that shouldn't be a problem. I'm a Hagerty guy myself; and I would highly recommend that you go Hagerty, as well.
Hagerty! Just had my first ever claim! Had a rock hit the windshield in my 76 a couple weekends ago. Everyone at Hagerty was kind, efficient and helpful. No problem!
My understanding is that as important as who the company is, is that the coverage be for an AGREED amount of $$$. Some companies require an appraisal when the agreed value goes above 30 K.

Alan

Can't speak for Hagerty's reps or anyone on this forum but, If it dosen't say in writing that you can drive to work every once in a while, I'd pretty much they won't pay a claim for something that happens at 11:30am on a Tuesday unless you could prove you were within their written guidelines. Reps are sales people, and not to cast aspersions on anyone, but the oldest trick in the book is to 'say anything to get the contract signed'.
I'm looking at ins. polices myself and I want that written assurance (American Collectors) that I can drive at will. I don't mind a yearly mileage limitation. Not sure who I'll end up going with, and until this thread I'd not heard of American Collectors.

That's a very good point Donnie!
I've argued that point on here in other threads just to be preached at that a phone rep told them so! The fact that I'm an agent and sell Hagerty's product, just doesn't give me any credentials.
If it doesn't say it in writing, don't believe it. If you get in an accident, it won't be the phone rep making minimum wage that your dealing with.
